Robert Bateman almost needs no introduction. Born in Toronto in 1930, he is a Canadian icon and one of the greatest artists of wildlife and the natural world. He is also a passionate campaigner for the preservation of nature and has spoken at many events over the years on the importance and benefits of connecting with nature on a regular basis.
He is particularly passionate about encouraging children and families to experience nature more frequently and believes the health benefits of doing so - both physically and mentally - are second to none.
His paintings display a beauty of wildlife that reflects an obvious love for his subject. They are incredibly lifelike, almost as if one is glimpsing upon a scene as an observer unnoticed, a privileged moment.
Mr. Bateman now resides on Salt Spring Island and continues to paint and seek out those precious moments of peace by walking in nature at least once every day.
