Bruce MacDonald is a Vancouver historian, speaker and author. He has had a life-long interest in local history and his knowledge on this subject is remarkable. His great-grandparents arrived in the city just twenty-five years after it was founded in 1886 and he grew up hearing many stories of its early history as they were passed down through the family.
He is the author of ‘Vancouver: A Visual History’ which is one of the most in-depth and most deeply researched books ever to be compiled on the city.
Bruce has been involved in various campaigns over the years to save historic buildings in the city and he was also one of the key people behind saving the Hollow Tree in Stanley Park after the windstorm of 2006 threatened to bring it down.
